WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION

Cape Town is set to issue tenders to enhance electricity supply, water security, and urban mobility. The City plans to appoint an electricity trading company to procure power from multiple producers, aiming for cheaper renewable energy.

Additionally, tenders for desalination and water reuse plants will be released, with construction expected to begin in 2027. The City also expands electricity access in informal settlements and tests electric buses for public transport to reduce costs and improve service delivery.
