Cargill Proposes 1.1Mt Canola Crushing Plant in Rockingham, WA
BIOFUELS
Cargill has proposed a $600 million canola-crushing plant, named Project Crux, in Rockingham, Western Australia, with a capacity to process 3,000 tonnes per day, totaling 1.1 million tonnes annually. The project follows exclusive lease negotiations with the WA Government and aims to significantly enhance the state’s canola-crushing capacity, which currently stands at 60,000 tonnes, in response to rising global demand and federal support for biofuels. Cargill plans to lease the site for 60 years and is considering a joint venture with CBH.
