Chernivtsi Plans Biofuel-Powered Waste-to-Energy CHP Plant with Swedish Partners
BIOFUELS
Chernivtsi officials plan to build a biofuel-powered combined heat and power (CHP) plant, utilizing waste as fuel, with a feasibility study funded by 29.4 million hryvnias in 2025. The project, in partnership with Swedish firms Swedfund International AB and SWECO International AB, aims to generate electricity from garbage and reduce landfill waste, aligning with Ukraine's energy decentralization strategy. Construction is expected to take two to three years, while a gas-powered cogeneration plant has already saved 23.5 million UAH this year, with another set to begin operations soon.
