China Launches World's First Offshore Wind Direct-Linked Underwater Data Center in Shanghai
WIND ENERGYDATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE
The first underwater data center connected directly to offshore wind power has begun operations in Shanghai's Lingang Special Area. Developed by CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co, the project has a total investment of 1.6 billion yuan and a planned capacity of 24 megawatts, implemented in two phases.
The initial phase operates at 2.3 megawatts, utilizing renewable energy and seawater cooling, addressing the demand for AI computing and energy shortages. The design features advanced structural technology to withstand challenging marine conditions.
