China Launches Yaogan-50 and Guowang Satellites in Record Year Kickoff

China successfully launched the Yaogan-50 satellite aboard a Long March 6A rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center on January 13, 2026, aimed at land surveys and disaster mitigation. Additionally, nine Guowang satellites were deployed into low Earth orbit via a Long March 8A rocket, contributing to the communication megaconstellation project. The country plans to significantly increase its launch frequency in 2026, targeting over 100 missions, including crewed flights and lunar exploration.
