The MNRE has increased the ALMM solar module capacity by 17,268 MW, totaling 162,109 MW. Proposed amendments include creating an ALMM List-III for wafers, mandating solar module sourcing from ALMM List-I and cells from ALMM List-II.

The MNRE urged caution in financing new solar module facilities and directed agencies to cancel tenders that bypass ALMM mandates. Last year, renewable projects solely for green hydrogen and ammonia developers received exemptions from using ALMM List-II solar cells.
