COUPLE Project Advances Ammonia Cracking Technology for Hydrogen Production in Germany
HYDROGENAMMONIA
The COUPLE project is advancing ammonia cracking technology to enhance hydrogen supply for industry and transport in Europe. Operating in Poppendorf, Germany, the project aims to produce 100 kg of high-purity hydrogen daily, improving on previous efforts.
It utilizes palladium-based membrane reactors and proton ceramic electrochemical reactors, targeting over 90% energy efficiency and a hydrogen production cost of €0.75/kg. This initiative is expected to validate ammonia as a feasible hydrogen carrier, supporting Europe's clean energy transition.
