ENERGY STORAGE
CPS Energy has launched a Request for Proposal (RFP) for up to 500 megawatts (MW) of battery storage, part of its Vision 2027 Generation Plan designed to provide sustainable energy in the San Antonio area. Once finalized, this RFP will enable CPS Energy to exceed 1,000 MW of battery storage capacity.
Currently, the utility has 50 MW operational and 470 MW in development, expected to be operational by 2026. The RFP aligns with the City of San Antonio's Climate Action & Adaptation Plan, which targets carbon neutrality by 2050. Proposals are due by January 30, 2026.
