CSIR Demonstrates Hydrogen Fuel Cell Propulsion for UAV Development in South Africa
HYDROGENFUEL CELL
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has demonstrated a hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using a hardware-in-the-loop simulation. The H2UAV, designed for hydrogen propulsion, weighs less than 35 kg and has a flight time of over 10 hours. The project is funded by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and aims to support the development of a hydrogen economy in South Africa by 2050.
