CSIR-NIIST and Noritake Co. Ltd. have formed a partnership to develop advanced CO₂ capture technologies through a sponsored research agreement. The collaboration focuses on demonstrating ceramic sorbents for high-temperature CO₂ capture, with the goal of addressing global decarbonization challenges.

Their jointly patented formulations can capture CO₂ at temperatures of 300-400°C, reducing energy consumption and operational costs. This partnership aligns with India's ₹20,000 crore budget for carbon capture initiatives.
