DE-CIX and DLR Collaborate on LEO Satellite Connectivity for Malaysia's Digital Inclusion

DE-CIX is collaborating with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) to improve connectivity between low earth orbit (LEO) satellites and ground stations as part of the European Space Agency's OFELIAS project, targeting advancements by July 2026. This initiative aligns with Malaysia's National Digital Network Plan to enhance internet access in underserved regions and supports the growing global space economy, projected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035. Additionally, DE-CIX's Space-IX initiative aims to create the first internet exchange for space, enhancing real-time connections between satellite operators and cloud providers.
