Delfland Investigates Torwash Technology for Sludge Treatment at De Groote Lucht Wastewater Facility
WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATIONBIOFUELS
Hoogheemraadschap van Delfland is researching the Torwash technique for processing sludge from large wastewater treatment plants at De Groote Lucht in Vlaardingen. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of this technology, which reduces sludge volume and recovers resources like biogas.
Other water boards have conducted successful small-scale trials. The results, expected by mid-2027, will assess energy costs and outputs, with a budget of nearly 3 million euros from Delfland and additional contributions from Torwash and STOWA.
