Denmark to Support Bangladesh's First 500MW Offshore Wind Farm in Bay of Bengal

Denmark plans to assist Bangladesh in developing its inaugural offshore wind energy farm, a 500-megawatt project in the Bay of Bengal near Cox's Bazar. Danish Ambassador Christian Brix Møller emphasized the need for climate action despite global conflicts.

He noted that renewable energy sources like solar and wind are now the most cost-effective options for energy generation. The ambassador also discussed strengthening industrial ties through initiatives like the 'Partnership for Cleaner Textiles' program, aimed at enhancing resource efficiency in Bangladeshi textile industries.

Care Bangladesh's country director Ram Das highlighted the shift towards market-based models for sustainable development and presented scalable projects funded by Denmark, including climate-smart solutions and community water enterprises. The event featured multiple stakeholders focused on practical climate solutions.
