Department of Energy Opens Grid Storage Launchpad for Independent Battery Testing
ENERGY STORAGE
The Department of Energy's Grid Storage Launchpad in Richland, Washington, has begun accepting applications from battery companies for independent testing of grid-scale energy storage systems with a minimum capacity of 100 kW. The facility, equipped with six testing bays and a total capacity of 2.4 megawatt-hours, provides a cost-effective solution for evaluating battery performance, crucial for maintaining grid stability. Funded by the DOE's Office of Electricity, GSL supports all stages of battery development, from material discovery to prototyping.
