DNV has awarded Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) an Approval in Principle (AIP) for its next-generation liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGC) and very large ethane carriers (VLEC) featuring forward accommodation and wind-assisted propulsion systems. This milestone, announced at the Gastech 2025 exhibition in Milan, marks the first integration of tiltable rotor sails in these vessel designs.

Additionally, HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard received an AIP for a medium gas carrier design employing similar environmentally friendly technologies. These advancements aim to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions while complying with stringent regulations.
