DOE Funds Six Teams to Develop Next-Generation Batteries with Four Times Energy Density
ENERGY STORAGE
The U.S. Department of Energy's ARPA-E is funding six teams with up to $15 million to develop next-generation batteries that achieve four times the energy density of current lithium-ion technology. The initiative, known as JOULES-1K, aims to create manufacturable prototypes over the next two years, addressing the Pentagon's need for domestically produced energy storage solutions. Among the recipients, Silicon Valley startup And Battery Aero will receive approximately $4 million to advance battery technology for drones.
