Drax to Acquire Flexitricity for £36M to Enhance Battery Storage Strategy

Drax is set to acquire Edinburgh-based Flexitricity for £36 million, integrating its 85 employees to bolster Drax's FlexGen business and enhance its battery storage strategy. Flexitricity, known for its energy asset optimization and AI technologies, will support Drax's plans for a gigawatt-scale Battery Energy Storage System. Additionally, Drax aims to transform part of its North Yorkshire power plant into a datacentre by 2027, with a planning application for a 100-megawatt facility already submitted.
