DURABLE Project Focuses on Additive Manufacturing for Fusion Reactor Wall Component Redesign
STRATEGIC MINERALS
The DURABLE project aims to enhance the plasma-facing components of fusion reactors using additive manufacturing. By developing optimized geometries and internal cooling channels, the project seeks to improve the robustness and service life of these components while reducing costs.
The initiative, running from November 2024 to October 2027, is managed by VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH and funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. Key partners include toolcraft AG, Forschungszentrum Jülich, and others.
