EAC to Invest €180 Million in Dhekelia Power Station Modernization for Energy Transition

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) is set to invest €180 million in modernizing the Dhekelia power station to enhance energy security and facilitate a green transition. The upgrade will introduce new production units, including Open Cycle Gas Turbines and a 160 MWh battery storage system, while phasing out outdated steam turbines to significantly reduce carbon emissions. Funding will be sourced from EAC reserves and European Investment Bank grants, aiming to lower public debt and electricity costs.
