Local legislators in East Feliciana Parish are pushing for a resolution to oppose carbon capture and sequestration projects in Louisiana. During a meeting on February 16, the Police Jury tabled the resolution for further information.

Concerns were raised about health risks and the safety of proposed carbon dioxide injection wells, especially given the presence of abandoned oil wells. Additionally, the jury renewed a tax exemption for first responders and proposed regulations for solar farms.
