EBRD Explores $80 Million Loan for 150 MW Battery Storage Project in Uzbekistan
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering an $80 million loan to support a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Uzbekistan. The project, estimated at $100 million, includes a 150 MW installation with a total capacity of 300 MWh.
If approved, the loan will be provided to Celest FE LLC, a special project company formed for this initiative, sponsored by Dubai-based AMEA Power. A financing decision is expected by 11 February 2026.
The facility will be situated in the Tashkent region and will enhance the stability of the national power system by providing ancillary services to manage the variability of renewable energy sources. AMEA Power has previously engaged in the Uzbek market and aims to expand its clean energy footprint in Central Asia.
