Economic Assessment of Wind-Battery Hybrid Systems in Türkiye's Electricity Market
WIND ENERGYENERGY STORAGE
A study assessing the economic viability of wind-battery hybrid systems in Türkiye's electricity market found that a 30 MW wind power plant combined with a 30 MWh lithium-ion battery storage system can achieve a payback period of 6 years with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 17.62%. When the battery is integrated without ancillary services, the payback period extends to 8 years; however, including ancillary services reduces it back to 6 years with an IRR of 17.8%. The findings underscore the importance of ancillary services for the financial feasibility of battery energy storage systems.
