Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn First in NYC to Heat Campus with Vegetable Oil Biofuel
BIOFUELS
Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn has become the first public high school in New York City to heat its campus entirely with vegetable oil biofuel. The system, which uses repurposed vegetable oil, is designed to be a low-emission alternative to traditional fossil fuels and could be scaled to other city buildings.
The school is currently testing the system during winter months, reporting no issues with heating. This initiative also includes educational components on sustainability within the school's environmental lab.
