El Paso Electric and Base Power Launch Home Battery System Program to Support Grid Reliability
ENERGY STORAGE
El Paso Electric (EPE) and Base Power have launched a pilot program to install residential battery systems, aimed at reducing grid demand during peak electricity usage. The initiative will integrate up to 10 MW of energy storage by 2026, providing backup power during outages while maintaining 20% of battery capacity for homeowners.
The program is free for qualifying participants and includes a potential financial incentive of up to $500 for the first 500 customers. EPE will manage the battery fleet while Base Power handles installation and maintenance.
