Enel North America and Mars Join Forces for Major Renewable Energy Initiative in Texas
HYDROGENGEOTHERMALCARBON CAPTURE
Enel North America has signed three contracts with Mars to generate 1.8 terawatt hours of electricity annually through new solar plants in Texas, marking Enel’s largest corporate power purchase agreement. This initiative is part of Mars' commitment to reduce its carbon footprint by 10% by 2030.
The agreement aims to enhance sustainability across Mars' value chain, potentially lowering carbon emissions by 3 million tonnes, while also contributing to the Texas energy grid. Mars' global operations currently consume approximately 2 TWh of electricity each year.
