The EU has extended expert support to Växjö Energi's bio-CCS project, POSCLIMB, which aims to achieve negative carbon emissions by capturing and storing biogenic CO2 from the Sandviksverket power plant. With a goal of capturing up to 200,000 tons of CO2 annually, the project will transport the captured gas to a North Sea storage site for mineralization, pending a municipal council decision in spring 2026 on advancing to a permanent facility by 2028. Funding has also been secured from the Swedish Energy Agency and the European Investment Bank.
