On June 25, 2025, the European Commission launched the EU Space Act to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the European space sector by addressing disparities in national security and environmental practices. The Act establishes a legal framework for data and service provision by European operators, mandates the creation of a Union Register of Space Objects, and promotes a single European space market alongside research and innovation. The proposal is set to undergo negotiations in the European Parliament and Council.
