Europe's First Small Modular Reactor-Powered Data Center Planned for Nottinghamshire

Holtec International, EDF UK, and Tritax Management have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop Europe's first small modular reactor (SMR) powered data center at the former Cottam coal-fired power station in Nottinghamshire. The project aims to revitalize the 900-acre site, with plans for a 1GW data center and several SMRs.
Operations are expected to begin in the 2030s. The initiative is part of a broader transatlantic collaboration aimed at enhancing clean energy infrastructure and creating thousands of skilled jobs while contributing to the UK's energy system.
