Eurowings has partnered with the startup Greenlyte to establish a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) laboratory at Düsseldorf Airport. Under this agreement, Eurowings will exclusively purchase SAF produced in the project's first three years.

The facility will utilize a power-to-liquid process, producing around 150 tons of SAF annually, enough to fuel approximately 60 flights from Düsseldorf to Palma with a 50% SAF blend. Düsseldorf Airport's CEO emphasized the significance of this commitment for the aviation sector, highlighting the need for enhanced production methods to reduce costs.
