Faroese Environment Agency Launches Ground Source Heat Pump in Leirvík
WIND ENERGY
The Faroese Environment Agency has inaugurated a ground source heat pump system in Leirvík, aimed at replacing oil burners and utilizing surplus wind power. This installation is projected to reduce oil consumption by 70,000-75,000 liters annually while consuming approximately 350,000 kWh of electricity, supporting the Faroe Islands' decarbonisation goals and enhancing energy security and efficiency. A data-collection system will provide online performance insights.
