FERC Grants 50-Year License for Goldendale Energy Storage Project in Washington
ENERGY STORAGE
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has granted a 50-year license for the Goldendale Energy Storage Project in Washington, which will store electricity for up to 12 hours and generate 1,200 MW of on-demand power. Developed by Rye Development and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on a former aluminum smelter site, the project is expected to create over 3,000 jobs during its construction and generate more than $10 million annually for Klickitat County, prioritizing local union workers.
This initiative aims to meet a projected 30% increase in electricity demand in the U.S. Northwest over the next decade.
