Final Approvals Granted for 437MWh BESS Project in Armidale, New South Wales by 2027

ENERGY STORAGE

The New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment granted development approval for a 437MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Armidale, set for completion by 2027 and operational by 2028. The project will support renewable energy storage and grid stability during the state's transition from fossil fuels.

Valent Energy is required to provide AU$2.55 million in community benefits and AU$400,000 annually for rail trail maintenance. The capacity was amended from 150MW/300MWh to 150MW/437MWh during the approval process.
