Flatiron Energy has proposed changes to its battery storage facility plan at 284 Eastern Ave., moving from a two-story building to 124 modular units. A public hearing is scheduled for Feb. 24, following the original permit approval in fall 2024.

The facility will connect to the Eversource Chelsea substation and is designed to meet flood elevation standards. The project aims to expedite construction and host-community agreement payments. Security measures include 24/7 monitoring and fencing.
