Flemish Government Introduces Fast-Track Procedure for Onshore Wind Farm Projects
WIND ENERGY
The Flemish government has introduced a fast-track procedure to accelerate the installation of onshore wind turbines, targeting 2,800 megawatts (MW) of electricity production by 2030. Key reforms include prioritizing appeal processes and reducing project processing times to a maximum of nine months, alongside the introduction of a new subsidy system. Despite only 13 new turbines installed this year, officials remain optimistic about achieving the 2030 target, citing existing permits that could contribute significantly to the goal.
