Former Amazon Manager Transforms Diaper Business into Sustainable Solution for Disposable Waste
CARBON CAPTURE
Carrie Pollak, a former Amazon manager, took over Diaper Stork in 2018, aiming to address the environmental impact of disposable diapers. The company, which provides cloth diaper services, has recently begun offering compostable diapers and is piloting a pyrolysis process to convert waste into biochar.
Despite the challenges of composting human waste in Washington state, Pollak secured grants to develop a facility for this innovative recycling method. Diaper Stork has already diverted millions of diapers from landfills, and Pollak is focused on scaling the operation while promoting sustainability in childcare.
