France's Energy Strategy: New Priorities and Renewable Energy Goals by 2035
WIND ENERGYSOLAR ENERGY
The French government has released its third multi-year energy program, focusing on energy sovereignty, carbon neutrality, and price competitiveness. It includes plans for six EPR2 reactors by 2038, 15 GW of offshore wind, and up to 80 GW of solar power by 2035.
The strategy indicates a shift towards renewable energy while aiming to maintain nuclear energy as a key component. Targets for installed wind and solar capacity have been lowered from initial projections, reflecting financial concerns regarding EDF. The program aims to significantly increase decarbonized electricity production while reducing fossil fuel consumption by 2035.
