Fraunhofer Institute Launches Innovative Pilot Plant for Efficient Hydrogen Production in Zittau
HYDROGENGEOTHERMAL
The Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Energy has inaugurated a pilot plant in Zittau, Germany. This facility, part of the integrh2ate project, utilizes waste heat from a PEM electrolyzer to enhance district heating efficiency.
Funded by the German federal government, the plant aims to optimize the integration of hydrogen production with municipal heating networks while testing various operational modes. The project focuses on harnessing by-products such as heat and oxygen, which can contribute to sustainable energy solutions.
