ENERGY STORAGESOLAR ENERGY
Gas stations in South Korea are now authorized to store solar energy for electric vehicle charging through energy storage systems, following a regulatory approval announced by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources. This initiative, led by Pion Electric Co., Ltd., aims to enhance EV charging stability by utilizing solar facilities on gas station properties, while also addressing energy access with the approval of self-service LPG mini charging stations in rural areas. Since 2019, the KCCI has supported 901 projects under the regulatory sandbox system.
