The city of Gera has secured €4.4 million in EU funding to enhance its public transport with ten new electric buses and the necessary charging infrastructure. This funding, provided by the Thuringian Ministry of Energy through the European Regional Development Fund, is part of a broader initiative to increase the number of zero-emission buses in Thuringia, with a goal of 46 such vehicles by 2026. Other cities in the region, including Meiningen and Jena, are also pursuing similar electric bus projects.
