HYDROGEN

Germany and Nigeria have established a partnership to advance the green hydrogen economy, formalized at the 3rd German-Nigerian Hydrogen Symposium in Abuja. The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Günther, highlighted the importance of this collaboration for a sustainable energy future.

The partnership aligns with Germany's National Hydrogen and Import Strategies, which aim to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries. The German-Nigerian Hydrogen Office in Abuja will support implementation efforts.

The symposium emphasized the need for strong partnerships and investment in the hydrogen sector. A National Hydrogen Policy Draft was presented, aiming to position Nigeria as a regional hydrogen leader and support energy transition and industrial growth. The event, co-hosted by multiple German and Nigerian ministries, gathered stakeholders to enhance cooperation on hydrogen technology and policy, concluding with a commitment to building an inclusive hydrogen economy.
