Ghanaian Student Tyrone Marhguy Constructs Computer Brain at University of Pennsylvania

Tyrone Iras Marhguy, a University of Pennsylvania student and former Achimota School alumnus, has successfully constructed an eight-bit Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) using 3,488 transistors, completing the project in over 250 hours. This endeavor, aimed at deepening his understanding of computing fundamentals, involved validating the design with over 1.2 million test vectors and is now progressing to optimization and debugging phases. Marhguy is also known for winning a landmark court case in 2021 regarding his admission to Achimota School due to his Rastafarian dreadlocks.
