Global Low Carbon Hydrogen Production Forecasted to Drop Significantly by 2030
HYDROGENCARBON CAPTURE
According to the International Energy Agency's latest report, global low carbon hydrogen production is projected to reach 37 million metric tons per year by 2030, down from a previous estimate of 49 million. This decline is attributed to project cancellations, rising costs, and policy uncertainties.
Although the actual output may be lower due to incomplete projects, operational capacity is anticipated to increase significantly. Further growth could occur if governments implement effective demand policies and infrastructure improvements, despite ongoing challenges in cost competitiveness.
