GlobalFoundries and Renesas Electronics have deepened their partnership in a multi-billion-dollar deal to enhance semiconductor production in the US. The agreement will provide Renesas access to GF's process technologies for system-on-chips and microcontrollers, with tape-outs starting in mid-2026.

Initial production will occur in the US, expanding later to Germany and Singapore. This initiative aims to strengthen supply chain resilience amid increasing demand for chips in automotive and industrial applications.
