ENERGY STORAGE

Godawari New Energy Private Limited (GNEPL) has revised its investment plans for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), increasing the first phase of its project from 10 GWh to 20 GWh and raising total investment from ₹700 crore to ₹1,625 crore. Phase I will invest ₹1,025 crore to expand capacity in FY26-27, while Phase II plans to double capacity to 40 GWh in FY28-29 with an additional ₹600 crore investment.

The expansion leverages a single-line manufacturing unit that enhances efficiency and reduces costs. The 20 GWh project is set to begin commercial operations in Q1 FY2027-28, funded by a mix of debt and equity from Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL).

GNEPL, incorporated on June 25, 2025, has its office in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and plans to start operations in Maharashtra by September 30, 2025. GPIL previously announced plans for a 10 GWh facility on December 12, 2025.
