Google is deploying CO2 battery technology from Energy Dome as a long-duration energy storage solution, starting with a facility in Sardinia that uses 2,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide to generate 20 MW for up to 10 hours. This initiative aims to effectively store excess renewable energy and will expand to key data-center locations across Europe and the United States.
