Government Proposes Regulatory Changes to Expedite Road and Infrastructure Project Approvals
WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION
Minister Jack Chambers announced proposed changes to streamline regulatory processes for infrastructure projects in order to reduce delays. He highlighted that existing regulations excessively hinder projects like roads and energy infrastructure.
Proposed measures include parallel decision-making for approvals to cut project timelines. The Infrastructure Taskforce report noted that transport projects can require up to 30 approvals, while efforts will be made to balance necessary regulations without compromising health and safety or environmental standards.
