Grand Junction to Implement Single-Stream Recycling System with New Recovery Facility by 2026
CIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLING
The City of Grand Junction is shifting to a single-stream recycling system, aided by a $9.82 million grant from the Colorado Circular Communities Program, to support the development of a new Materials Recovery Facility set to open in late 2026. Approximately 3,800 dual-stream customers will transition in March 2024, with weekly collection scheduled to align with trash days. The new facility, located in a 58,000-square-foot building, aims to enhance material sorting and recovery for the Western Slope region.
