H2CAST Project Advances with Component Transport to Etzel for Hydrogen Facility Assembly
HYDROGEN
The H2CAST project has reached a significant milestone with the transportation of two large components for its hydrogen purification facility from Rotterdam to Etzel, with final assembly set for Q1 2026. This initiative, led by STORAG ETZEL and Gasunie, aims to enhance hydrogen infrastructure in Northwest Europe through safe storage and purification in salt caverns, and may expand storage capacity from 75 to 99 caverns. Following commissioning, extensive testing is expected to yield results by the end of 2026, supporting the energy transition and improving supply security.
