Hapag-Lloyd Partners with Shell for Multi-Year Bio-LNG Supply Agreement to Enhance Decarbonization Efforts

Hapag-Lloyd has signed a multi-year agreement with Shell Western LNG for the supply of liquefied biomethane, starting immediately. This partnership aims to bolster Hapag-Lloyd's decarbonization strategy, targeting net-zero fleet emissions by 2045.
Bio-LNG, derived from organic waste, can be used in existing dual fuel vessels without modifications. Shell’s expanded bio-LNG offering is now available at 22 bunkering hubs globally. This collaboration underscores the importance of immediate action in reducing shipping emissions while maintaining operational reliability.
