Harbour Energy and Tree Energy Solutions Prepare for CO₂ Storage Projects in North Sea

HYDROGENNATURAL GAS

Starting in the 2030s, CO₂ will be captured from industrial plants and gas power stations in Germany, compressed, and transported to the North Sea for storage. Companies Harbour Energy and Tree Energy Solutions are developing separate projects to facilitate this CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) process, aiming to store hundreds to thousands of meters deep in geological formations. Initial CO₂ shipments could commence around 2030, with major offshore storage expected in the mid-2030s as part of the 'NetZero Nordwest Deutschland' initiative.
